MASONRY GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT

JP Cullen, a Wisconsin-based $500 million plus,130-year-old, 5th generation family-owned construction management firm, is seeking a Masonry General Superintendent. The Masonry General Superintendent is responsible for the oversight and management of all internal and external masonry projects and team members, including work procurement, strategic planning, continuous process improvement, and client satisfaction. This individual will also be responsible for leading, growing, and developing team members as well as recruitment of individuals to the trade.

 

Over the last 25 years, JP Cullen’s Masonry Division has grown its presence significantly throughout Wisconsin and Illinois.  Masonry projects are executed within complex environments requiring creative plans and disciplined execution, perfect for anyone who enjoys challenges and making a difference for others.

 

The Masonry General Superintendent reports directly to the Construction Services Director, working directly with our masonry foremen and crews. This individual will also work alongside both Estimating and Project Management as it relates to masonry operations.  Success is determined by measuring safety, people development, project financials, overhead, quality, and client service. The main role is to plan, manage, coordinate, and support masonry resources in effective execution of masonry operations on projects.  The Masonry General Superintendent is accountable for projects and masonry activities overall profit, schedule, and safety.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Quality
    • Ensure the intent of JP Cullen’s policies, procedures, and quality standards are followed in accordance with our Safety & Quality Management Systems.
  • Supervision/Production:
    • Coordinate, manage, and monitor sharing of masonry resources
    • Identify needs for growth in masonry field leadership. Find and train additional resources as needed.
    • Track masonry manpower for both projects bidding and active projects
    • Takes the initiative to identify areas of needing improvement and leads change.
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, coworkers, and management.
    • Actively engaged and leads in the PCI Certification Management.
    • Ensure client satisfaction on all masonry jobs.
  • Estimates/Financial
    • Assist as needed in the preparation of estimates which includes giving input on pricing and scheduling prior to bidding projects.
    • Review all masonry projects weekly and help determine possible changes in overall manpower or planning if needed
  • Strategic Input
    • Develop, direct, and monitor short-term and long-range plans consistent with overall company objectives.
    • Work to grow precast and masonry resources and opportunities to expand our current capabilities
    • Develop positive working relationships with Union BA’s and apprentice coordinators.
  • Human Resources
    • Perform masonry foreman reviews, evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor.

 

Position Background Requirements:

  • At least ten or more years of experience in a construction-related position where knowledge was gained in the areas of construction, design, finance, and management.
  • Managed projects greater than $2 million in value for masonry work.
  • 30 Hour OSHA course holder.
  • Must possess an understanding of the Commercial markets and future trends; hold high visibility and credibility in the marketplace
  • Experience in hiring, building, and leading a team
  • Must possess superior communication and interpersonal (facilitation, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills
