UW Madison Field House Exterior Renovation
We partnered with the University of Wisconsin-Madison to restore the Historic Field House attached to Camp Randall Stadium, preserving one of the campus’s most recognizable landmarks.
Our team completed a comprehensive exterior prerenovation of the facility originally constructed in 1930 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The project focused on restoring the building’s exterior envelope, repairs to the roof, stone façade, doors and windows. A special focus was directed to the ornate historic windows, which were carefully rehabilitated with historically accurate systems to improve energy efficiency while maintaining the building’s original look.
Designed by campus architect Arthur Peabody, the Field House features signature elements such as a clay tile roof and locally quarried sandstone, blending Italian Renaissance Revival and American Craftsman styles. This restoration work ensured that the architectural features were kept preserved while addressing long-term performance needs.
The project required a thoughtful approach to balancing historic preservation with modern construction standards. From maintaining the look of the original design, to upgrading key building components, the project extends the life of this iconic facility and supports its continued use within the UW-Madison campus.
