The Waukesha Electric expansion will use 600 tons of steel and add 140,000 sq. ft. to the local facility, increasing its size by 50 percent. It will allow Waukesha Electric to build some of the largest power transformers available and specialized in building high-quality medium power transformers utilized by utilities and independent power producers throughout North America. In addition, the expansion will provide the manufacturing capacity and increase its ability to produce large power units for the North American power grid.
The steel portion of the project will be completed in July 2011
