We have finally moved into our new office space downtown Milwaukee! This is a vision I have had ever since opening our office over 20 years ago – it is hard to believe that it has been that long!
Most people think that our relationship started in Milwaukee when we opened our office, however, it was much earlier than that. It started when J.P. Cullen, third-generation owner, became part owner of the Milwaukee Bucks in 1975, selling the team to Herb Kohl in 1985. As he told the story, there were several opportunities for them to sell the team, but they chose to keep the Bucks here in Milwaukee, as they were dedicated to the team and this city. Our dedication to this city continued with opening our area office in 1998, and now relocating our office downtown to the Milwaukee Fortress building in 2018. Our story with the Bucks didn’t end when J.P. sold the team – we were selected as the construction manager to build the new home for the Milwaukee Bucks – the Sports Science Center, as well as the structural steel erector for the new Milwaukee Bucks Arena.
Once we opened our branch office, it didn’t take long to gain traction. Looking back to when we first opened, we increased our revenues almost 20 times from 1998 to 2003, from $3 million to $55 million. A number of major projects helped drive this growth, including South Milwaukee High School, Oak Creek Police Station, ProVantage Headquarters, St. Michael’s Hospital, and the Boerner Botanical Gardens. This growth forced us to move from our first office on Burleigh to West Lisbon in December 2003.
And now, 15 years later, we are experiencing more growth. This past fiscal year, we increased our revenues by 29% and we are forecasting another fantastic year, with revenues increasing again by 30%.
Our new home is not only a larger space to accommodate our growth – it offers the perks of being close to the area attractions in downtown, as well as amenities for our employees to take advantage of, such as the kitchen that includes a pool table and shuffle board, courtyard, rooftop terrace, community room, fitness facility, a DYI space, and a dog run and wash.
