Meet the Crew: Serge Figliuzzi

Tiffany Scuglik

Meet one of our Crane Operators – Serge Figliuzzi! Serge has been with JP Cullen for 15 years.

What caused you to get into your profession?

As a kid, I loved to watch the big construction equipment work. While my friends were playing ball and getting in trouble, I would ride my bike for miles to find where the big equipment was working and watch for hours.

What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest work achievement includes building and putting together the structures that we, at JP Cullen, do. Not a lot of people can drive down the road and point at a building or structure and say, “I had a big part in building that.” For example, some jobs I have been a part of include the new Fiserv Forum, UW-Madison’s Camp Randall, Epic’s Deep Space Auditorium, and many others.

Who has been the most inspirational to you in your career?

My dad taught me a hard work ethic. Additionally, a lot of people I work with every day and have worked with have inspired me throughout the years.

What is one thing no one knows about you?

I was a licensed professional motorcycle flat track racer. When I am not racing for fun on the dirt, I also race on the ice.

What is the best advice you ever received in your career at JP Cullen?

Pause for a moment and look back. Sometimes you need to take time to look back at your accomplishments and achievements at work to further yourself for the present and the future.

Check out one of Serge’s projects of raising the first truss at the Fiserv Forum here!
