Meet the Crew: Ryan McKillip

Tiffany Scuglik

Meet one of our Crane Operators – Ryan McKillip! Ryan has been with JP Cullen for 4 years.

What caused you to get into your profession?

I started playing with Tonka trucks every day, all day. I also loved helping my grandpa run the equipment on his farm, which led me to operate mobile cranes for 10 years. Running a tower crane was my number one goal.

What are your proudest achievements?

My proudest personal achievement is both having and raising a family – a loving wife, a daughter, and a son. I like to call them my million dollar family.

My proudest professional achievement is being NCCO Certified and running a tower crane. Most people think it’s “just pulling levers,” but we have to maneuver every piece of material and equipment that goes in and out of the building site, safely and smoothly, while completing the job on time.

Who has been the most inspirational to you in your career?

My parents have been most inspirational to me. They taught me what a good work ethic looks like. It is not just simply working hard, but to do what you love, respect others you work with, and to never be late!

What is your favorite past-time or hobby?

I enjoy hunting all year round and going to concerts.

What is one thing no one knows about you?

I like cranes so much that I convinced my wife to name our son Crosby after the strongest rigging company in the world – Crosby Rigging.

What is your personal mantra?

“Don’t go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
