Tiffany Scuglik

This week are shining the spotlight on Darrell Harnack! Darrell is a Carpenter Foreman for JP Cullen and has been in the construction industry for 14 years. We sat down with him to learn a little more about him.

What sparked your interest in the construction industry?

I was just really interested in how it worked. I used to do house construction when I was 18 and really enjoyed watching everything come together. I started off as a mason tendon and moved up to a carpenter.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Just getting to see a job from start to finish and seeing the customer’s reaction when seeing the final product.

Who has been the most motivational to you in your career?

My family. I have a beautiful wife and a 3 year old daughter, and a 16 year old daughter.

What is your favorite project you have worked on?

I have a couple…Lake Geneva Central-Denison Elementary School. This was my first foreman project. It was a summer blitz project. It was cool seeing the transformation of an old school in just three months. It was an amazing turnaround. My second one would be Epic Deep Space. And my third one would be Alliant Energy Conference Center. There was a lot of good carpentry on that project.

What is your proudest achievement?

Becoming a father.

What are your top three highlights of your life?

Getting married, becoming a father, and purchasing a farm. We own a business where we board horses.

What is your favorite memory?

Fishing and hunting with my dad.
