Our Construction Career Fair is just one example of our unwavering dedication to the construction industry and fostering the growth of students with a passion for skilled trades. Behind the scenes, in addition, our diligent Apprenticeship Committee tirelessly forges connections with local schools, engaging in site tours and providing invaluable classroom mentorship opportunities.
This year, we hosted our 7th construction fair since 2015 at our Janesville Headquarters with more than 300 enthusiastic students in attendance, they were treated to a hands-on experience that allowed them to explore various trade professions, led by skilled experts.
This is Not Your Traditional Career Fair
As you step into our career fair, you quickly notice that it stands apart from the conventional fairs you may have attended in the past. Construction is a hands-on field, so we offered a diverse range of activities that enable students to immerse themselves in the shoes of various tradespeople.
Our primary goal is to ensure that students gain exposure to the myriad of opportunities presented by the construction industry, empowering them to discover their true passion. This year’s fair showcased an extensive array of disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, ironworking, carpentry, concrete finishing, masonry, operating engineers, safety practices, virtual design & construction (VDC), and prefabrication.
Different Career Paths Following High School
With over 300 students from local area schools, there was a lot of learning taking place! The schools that stopped by included: Albany High School, Belleville High School, Beloit Memorial High School, Lincoln Academy, Beloit Turner High School, Big Foot High School, Brodhead High School, Clinton High School, Columbus High School, Delavan-Darien High School, Edgerton High School, Janesville Craig High School, Janesville Parker High School, Juda High School, McFarland High School, Milton High School, Orfordville/Parkview High School, Whitewater High School, and Wisconsin Heights High School. Not all high school students have the same graduation plans, and it is great to see the excitement for the different career paths that the construction industry has available.
