37,000

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Adjacent to the Milwaukee Bucks Sports Science Center, the McKinley Health Center supports the needs of the growing downtown housing community. The new three-story Health Center offers primary care, orthopedic, physical therapy, sports medicine, podiatry, radiology and specialty care to the community and Bucks employees. The lower level features a  FastCare walk-in clinic which will offer extended weekday and Saturday hours.

JP Cullen crews were working on the foundation for the neighboring Sports Science Center when the owners brought up the idea of adding the clinic next door. As you can imagine, the project plans had to be changed greatly as a result. To help construction move quickly and smoothly, we used Building Information Modeling (BIM) and prefabrication.

Prefabrication of exterior walls was done to get the building enclosed as soon as possible so partitions, studs, drywall, and MEPF overhead rough-ins could be done in an enclosed facility since the work would be done during winter. All stairs were fabricated off-site and put into place. In total, prefabrication saved 7 weeks on the schedule. BIM, specifically MEPF coordination, was critical in accelerating schedule and resolving conflicts before they became a problem in the field. The team found 50+ conflicts and resolved hundreds of clashes, resulting in ZERO mechanical clashes during construction.
