Due to an increased demand for Tillamook ice cream on the east coast, Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA) is expanding by opening a plant dedicated completely to ice cream production. The farmer-owned dairy co-op currently owns and operates two manufacturing sites, both located in the state of Oregon. However, the association’s local facilities are mostly dedicated to cheese production.

TCCA purchased a previously operated ice cream facility in Decatur, Illinois. With 57,000 square feet of production space and over 22,000 square feet of freezer warehouse space, this plant will significantly enhance TCCA’s production capacity as well as cut back on trucking costs to better serve the Midwest and east coast.

JP Cullen was brought on as the construction manager for this project providing analysis and design for structural and restoration as well as self-performing significant portions of the buildout of the manufacturing and employee spaces.

JP Cullen was tasked with extensive demolition, structural, and installation work across multiple areas of the facility, both inside and out. This project involved complex processes to prepare the space for efficient ice cream production, ensuring that the facility would meet TCCA’s operational and production needs.
