Construction creates a unique environment that when captured in the right moment can be breathtaking. Paul Vassolotti, a skilled photographer in the Madison area, captured a photo of one of our Laborer’s that was selected for ENR Magazine’s 2019 Year in Construction Photo Contest.
Meet Paul
Paul Vassolotti has a passion for photography and has created a hobby of stopping by our jobsites and snapping some quite amazing shots. This photo specifically was taken at Judge Doyle Square, a six-story underground parking ramp located in Madison, Wisconsin. After an overcast morning, the sun illuminated the sky allowing for Paul to take advantage of the lighting and capture the photo he did.
Meet Trevor
The concrete finisher featured in the image is Trevor Evans, a past apprentice with JP Cullen who recently transitioned into a Journeyman Laborer role before crossing the stage at Edgerton High School. When asked what sparked Trevor’s interest in the construction industry he said, “I’ve always wanted to be outside doing something with my hands and I knew that college wasn’t the right fit for me. Having the opportunity to start my senior year of high school really helped boost my confidence level in the field and kept me wanting to learn more.”
While Trevor took a momentary pause, Paul effortlessly captured the human element of a concrete pour. Coincidentally, Trevor’s favorite memory thus far in construction was working the Saturday morning Pail captured him in action.
As Trevor ends the day covered in concrete, he plays a crucial role in the completion of an iconic project.
