Then & Now

Meet Matt

Matt Roberts, Ironworker Foreman, has been with JP Cullen for 15 years and has never been laid off once. Read what he had to say about how his career has grown:

“Crazy to think when I first started 20+ years ago, I was crawling around on steel beams, not tied off, before we used boom lifts. So glad things have changed for the safety of myself and my fellow Ironworkers!”

Being able to work with some of the hardest working men and women in the business, being part of a brotherhood in this construction world, and knowing that so many people have your back. For me, it started when I was a kid. My dad was an Ironworker and would take me on jobs, and I was always amazed by the cranes and the people he worked with. I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

JP Cullen is such a great place to work; my wife earned a job here a few years ago!”

As an intern, I quickly came to appreciate the professionalism, community involvement, and quality workmanship at the core of all of JP Cullen’s projects.  As a Site Engineer, I am proud to be a part of the JP Cullen team.  Each day brings new challenges and opportunities for growth.

During my three summers as an intern with JP Cullen, I had the opportunity to work on some unique jobs. Regardless of the division or project, JP Cullen’s commitment to the field and the development of its employees remained strong and consistent. I loved that even the interns had responsibility on the jobsite and the opportunity to see the work being put in place.

I started my career 25 years ago with JP Cullen and now I am the General Superintendent for the Industrial Division. I’ve had some remarkable mentors and have forged some great new friendships with my colleagues. If you’re looking to grow towards a career either in the office or the field, JP Cullen will give you the right opportunities and invest the time and effort to make sure it happens.
