Meet The Crew: Doug Ihlenfeldt

Tiffany Scuglik

Doug Ihlenfeldt is a Superintendent with JP Cullen that started on January 2, 2003. His role is to lead tradespeople and suppliers through time and space to safely create our customers desired outcome.

What do you like best about working at JP Cullen?

I like working at JP Cullen because it is a family owned company where everyone is treated as though they are part of the family. I am also given the freedom to take calculated risks through planning and communication.

What is the best advice you ever received?

Don’t find someone you can live with; find someone you can’t live without.

Who has been the most inspirational to you in your career?

The General Superintendent for the Milwaukee City Hall Restoration project, Don B., was the most influential to me. It was my first Area Superintendent job and he gave me a decent leash to lead and learn with oversight and sharing his extensive restoration experience.

What are the top three highlights of your life?

My top three highlights include: Building my own house with the help of family and friends, building a cedar stop canoe with my wife, and coaching my kid’s hockey teams!

What is your proudest achievement?

Being a husband and a father of 2 awesome kids! I look forward to each day experiencing my kids growing up and shaping their life.

If you could witness any event past, present, or future, what would it be?

I would love to have watched my Grandfather and his team work on the Apollo 11 Spaceship design.

If you could sit down to dinner with five people, who would you invite?

Dave Chapelle, Mitch Hedberg, Jim Gaffigan, Patrick Kane and Devin Copeland

What is something people wouldn’t expect about you?

I am a hockey goalie. Reflexes of a cat, speed of a mongoose!
