Once J.P. Cullen and Sons, Inc. had finalized construction on the expansion at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium the doors were open for all. The 50,000 square-foot expansion now houses three immersive galleries including four salt-water aquariums. The expansion also gives the Museum and Aquarium added space for non-ticketed areas for a research center, cafe, and gift shop. A large format 3-D/4-D Digital Theater is also now available at the Museum.
The National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium is located along the banks of the Mississippi River in the Port of Dubuque, IA. It will serve as the lead interpretive center for America’s rivers. The Museum & Aquarium has received national recognition for its exhibits and programming.
Cullen’s work entailed demolition and remodeling of the existing building and converting it into a Museum and Aquarium. “Green” elements and recycling were used throughout the project.
