UW Health selected the joint venture of JP Cullen and Mortenson to partner and build a new state-of-the-art ambulatory clinic with two towers. The cutting edge, six-story outpatient clinic in Madison, Wisconsin recently wrapped construction and opened to patients in late 2024.
The design and build of this facility embodies the future of healthcare. Spanning over 469,000 total square feet of space, the clinic offers a wide range of specialized services including cardiology, dermatology, oncology, and ophthalmology. We also constructed a 1,400-stall parking structure that sits on the south end of the campus, featuring the largest solar canopy in the state.
The preconstruction of the clinic was planned with nearly half a million square feet built under a strict schedule. With the first patient date set in stone, we had no room for delays. This accelerated timeline pushed us to innovate, incorporating prefabrication strategies to expedite our project. As an example, we used unitized curtain wall window systems which allowed the glass to arrive on=site pre-glazed, enabling us to install over 1,200 windows three times faster, significantly reducing the schedule.
