The Woodman’s Sports & Convention Center was a strategic development located at the heart of Janesville, serving as a key link between Interstate 90 and Downtown. This modern facility relocates and replaces the aging and outdated Janesville Ice Arena, addressing the growing need for expanded youth sports, recreation opportunities, and versatile meeting spaces. Built on the site of the former Sears building connected to Uptown Mall (Janesville Mall).

The 140,000+ sqft facility was designed to serve as an indoor event facility capable of hosting large-scale athletic, entertainment, business, and community recreation events. The center features:

  • Main Arena: 1,500 spectator capacity with year-round ice for hockey, skating, and other activities.
  • Multi-Purpose Arena: 250 spectator capacity with adjustable space for ice, hard court flooring, and indoor turf.
  • Multi-Use/Conference Space: 25,800 sqft for tradeshows, conventions, expos, banquets, and community events, as well as space for basketball courts, volleyball courts, pickleball, and open gym.
  • Additional Amenities: Team/locker rooms, coaches’ office space, meeting rooms, training rooms, concessions, storage, and administrative space. The center is now the home of the Janesville Jets hockey team replacing their former home, Janesville Ice Arena, built in 1974.

This project expects to bring 228 new jobs and a $23 million annual boost to the local economy aiming to revitalize retail areas, boost the local economy, and enhance property values, enabling the city to capture their investment over time according to Wisconsin Public Radio.
