Building Wellness Week 2025: A Celebration of Mental Wellbeing at JP Cullen

Colleen Wischnewski

At JP Cullen, caring for one another is at the heart of everything we do – and that includes supporting mental health. The construction industry faces unique challenges, and we know that mental wellbeing is just as critical as physical safety. That’s why we launched our first-ever building wellness week, a dedicated time to promote positive mental health across our teams. Our goal? To break the stigma, encourage open conversations, and strengthen our culture of care.

Highlights from the week:

Monday – Kickoff & Toolbox Talk
We started the week strong with a toolbox talk focused on positive mental wellness, sparking conversations about mental health and wellbeing. Throughout the day, team members shared positive shoutouts and recognition, reminding us how powerful appreciation can be.

Tuesday – Mindful Movement

Employees enjoyed a group wellness walk during lunch – a chance to step away, recharge, and connect.

Wednesday – Building Wellness Webinar
Midweek was all about learning and celebrating morale. Over lunch, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) Holly Schneider hosted an engaging building wellness webinar, sharing practical strategies for resilience and mental wellbeing in the workplace.

Thursday – Spot Bonus Announcement
We announced mental wellbeing spot bonuses and invited nominations for teammates who boost morale. It was inspiring to see so many stories of positivity and support.

“Savannah takes creating a positive and welcoming environment seriously. She impresses me with the efforts she puts towards brining our team together to have fun.”

“Doug is one of the best leaders I have ever worked for. He leans on experience but is always open to hearing ideas. Doug continues to push the growth of our concrete group.”

Friday – Closing Celebration Lunches
We wrapped up the week with jobsites and offices hosting celebration lunches, giving teams time to relax and enjoy good food and great company. These moments of connection remind us that wellness is about relationships as much as routines.

Why it matters

Mental health is a cornerstone of safety and success in our industry. By dedicating time to building wellness week, we’re taking proactive steps to break stigma, encourage open conversations, and ensure every team member knows: you are not alone, and help is always available.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this week meaningful. Together, we’re building more than projects – we’re building a culture of care.
