Meet the Crew: Stephanie Schuette

Tiffany Scuglik

This week we are catching up with JP Cullen All-Star Stephanie Schuette!

Stephanie is a 10-year JP Cullen veteran currently working in the estimating department. Stephanie supports the estimating efforts here at JP Cullen by focusing on pursuing projects within the procurement holes of masonry’s busy manpower schedule.

Women in Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (WEMS) Participation

Outside of her career, she is very active in the local community. Stephanie was recently appointed to be on UW-Platteville’s WEMS Advisory Board. The board leads the program offering advocacy, networking, mentoring, financial, and leadership resources to those students enrolled in the Engineering, Mathematics, and Science programs.

Coaching Women in the AEC Industry

Stephanie will be sitting on the Women in Industry panel event on September 19that UW-Platteville with other women at AEC companies including Alliant Energy, Mead & Hunt, and IMEG  speaking to both college and high school students on her experience in the construction industry.

Stephanie shared, “I love working with the young adults that come my way, being able to provide coaching and aiding in the development of their life skills. Guiding others along similar paths is something that I am passionate about. By being a part of the Advisory Board, I have the ability to use my experience as a woman in the construction industry to further lead and mentor students to the success in their studies that they are looking to achieve.”

Women in Construction

With the everchanging climate of the construction industry, we asked Stephanie how the industry of today is breaking down the stereotypes of the past. She said, “Here at JP Cullen, and I’m sure many other companies, construction is professional, not like the crews portrayed on television. While the field is still more male-dominated, we are equals and here at JP Cullen, we are a family.” For women in the industry or interested in it, Stephanie has one piece of advice, “Your only limit is what you limit yourself to do.”
