Advocate Aurora Health’s (AAH) Slinger Health Center offers care to children and adults of all ages. Specialty care includes obstetrics and gynecology, family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics and general surgery, diagnostic testing and imaging, and lab work.
The project was initiated by the planned move of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic (VLCC) from Slinger into a new location. The large volume of space previously occupied by the VLCC provided space for a new 1,500 sqft retail pharmacy, and rehabilitation clinic.
Prior to the project, AAH maintained space for rehabilitation services in a building across the street from the health center. The consolidation provided additional efficiency for AAH and reduced the provider’s capital expense through the elimination of the leased space. The emphasis on speed to market in providing this first phase of renovation was paramount. Any compromise to the team’s deadline would trigger renewal of a year-long lease on the space previously occupied by the rehabilitation department. Careful preconstruction planning allowed the team to expedite the pace of the first phase of the project to avoid the lease renewal.
More than 10 subsequent phases of construction were required to complete the remodeling of the entire center which included a wide variety of patient care, support and administrative spaces.
