This two-story, 22,885-square-foot facility is strategically designed to address the operational needs of the Cudahy Fire Department. It features four apparatus drive-through bays, gear storage areas, administrative offices, bunks for firefighters, a kitchen, training rooms, and fitness facilities.

The decision to construct a new fire station followed a comprehensive multi-year process initiated in 2018 with a facilities assessment. Subsequent assessments in 2021 revealed significant functional deficiencies in the city’sexisting fire stations. Station 1, built in 1958, and Station 2, constructed in 1968, were found to lack adequate bunk spaces, facilities for female firefighters, suitable office space, and sufficient areas for equipment decontamination and training. Station 2 also exhibited additional structural issues.

After evaluating options for renovating the existing stations versus building anew, it was determined that constructing a new station at the site of Station 2 would be the more cost-effective approach. This new facility not only consolidates operations from two outdated stations into one modern facility but also meets current National Fire Protection Administration standards and other fire service requirements.

Upon completion, the new fire station will provide essential services to the community, enhance firefighter living conditions on the second floor, and support ongoing training and administrative functions on the first floor
