This project was a single-phase renovation of the 3rd floor, B-wing, of the William S Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. Working in an active health care setting means developing a plan to mitigate disruption and maintain patient safety. During construction, the noise and vibration impacted floors 2 and 4. Our project team had to closely monitor these sounds and vibrations to ensure no interference with patient care. VA Officials were most concerned with patient safety and disruption during renovation. We overcame this by submitting a plan for infectious control barriers, that was approved by the board, and submitted noise impact notices 24 hours in advance.
