JP Cullen has been a partner with Whitewater Unified School District for over 25 years, most recently completing their $23.5 million referendum to address focused on district-wide safety and security upgrades, ADA accessibility compliance updates, instructional space renovations and additions, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades. Construction started June and completed in August of the following year. Because we were able to deliver construction under budget we were also able to deliver the following at the District’s request while still within the $23.5 million:
- Voice Evacuation Fire Alarm Capacity
- Lincoln North Parking Lot Refurbishment
- Lincoln Intercom System
- High School Auditorium Lighting/AV
- Weight Room Indoor Turf
- Lakeview Elementary Parking Renovation
- High School Parking Renovation
- Middle School Library Remodel
Our Referendum Services team also assisted Whitewater in passing their referendum after they underwent a facilities study, which revealed that several of the existing buildings needed updating, some core spaces were underutilized for current occupancy or intended use, and some building exteriors required immediate attention to avoid further deterioration. Following this comprehensive evaluation, and over a year of planning, and gathering community input to shape priorities and solutions, the Board unanimously approved a $23.5 million referendum.
In November of 2016, voters passed the referendum to improve an update all five of the District buildings with 71% approval. The upgrades for each school focused on district-wide safety and security upgrades, ADA accessibility compliance updates, instructional space renovations/additions, and maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.
